Jubilee News
June 15, 2010
What an incredible turn out of our Old Boys, current parents and students all contributing in so many ways to make the Jubilee celebrations the success they were. Often the students talk about the ‘spirit’ of the College, and as parents we think that only applies to them, but after witnessing the ‘spirit’ of all the volunteers including past parents, staff and just friends of the College that ‘spirit’ is evident throughout our whole College family.
Thank you for however you took part in the celebrations. Just to give a few highlights:
• 899 official registrations
• 750 at the Blue’s Brothers Bash (with 50 volunteers)
• Approximately 1200 through the College and at sports fixtures during Saturday
• 850 at the Jubilee Dinner
• 900 at the Jubilee Mass
• 700 ‘Sectare Fidem’ books already sold
• The original commemorative painting ‘St Pat’s Goes Marching In’ sold for $27,000 at the Dinner auction – the syndicate have kindly donated it back to the school where it now graces the foyer
• 24 prints of the painting have already sold
• 200 merino scarves already sold

Finally a sample of the positive feedback to our Jubilee celebrations:
Dear Father,
What an outstanding weekend!
My sincere thanks to all involved in the planning and execution of the Jubilee celebrations.
Thanks to all the boys for providing such wonderful entertainment on Saturday. The 1st IVX’s win was only eclipsed by their outstanding and original haka. And that evening’s performance by Con Anima was breathtaking.
In a weekend of highlights came a dinner not to be forgotten. Tim Gordon’s humour, Denis Clifford’s wit, Alex Fala’s sincerity all topped off by my old Head Prefect Craig Larkin’s brilliant toast to the College.
Sunday’s Mass was another moving experience and so appropriate to the occasion.
I left with one over riding thought. How on earth have you the priests and teachers, with a good deal of assistance from the boys I suspect, been able to maintain and grow the spirit in a school, which, to an outsider, looks so different. It is a great credit to you all.
My sincere thanks,
Ross Wall
