Parent Weekly Update 1 February

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome to the start of the 2019 academic school year, and a warm welcome to Year 9 parents joining the St Patrick’s College community.  The year has started positively with 140 Year 9 students and a total roll of about 790.  Athletics Day on Thursday was well organised and enjoyed by both students and staff.  The next planned Athletics Day for athletes only is on Tuesday 5 February at Newtown Park.

SPC COLLEGE BUCKET HATS: In this warm weather it is recommended that the boys purchase a College blue bucket hat to wear at interval and lunch time.  NZ Uniforms has a good supply of bucket hats for sale at a cost of $16.

2018 NCEA RESULTS:  Provisional NCEA results show:

St Patrick’s College National
NCEA Level 1 86.1% 70.1%
NCEA Level 2 85.6% 76.1%
NCEA Level 3 69.4% 63.7%
University Entrance 57.1% 46.1%

There are many pleasing results.  We congratulated 25 Year 12 students who gained NCEA Level Two with Excellence in our opening assembly.  We are disappointed in our University Entrance data.  Students really do need to put in a full year of hard work in order to gain University Entrance.

REMINDER: School is closed on Wednesday 6 February for Waitangi Day.

DATES TO DIARY FOR NEXT WEEK:

BULLYING: Mr Peter Wadsworth is speaking to all our Year 9’s about “bullying”.  We want all our boys to be safe and happy.  If you have any concerns about your son’s wellbeing please contact us.

PARKING OUTSIDE COLLEGE: Parking around our College is always difficult.  It is especially difficult while the new cycleway is being constructed.  Please do not try to park outside the College or come into the school grounds.  The best parking behind the Kilbirnie Pool or at the Evans Bay Marina.

A full newsletter will be given to your son to bring home on 15 February and will also be available on the College website and College App.
