Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome back to the start of a busy Term 4. We have had a positive week of Senior exams. All students should be back at school for normal classes on Tuesday 23 October.
Thank you to the parents and staff who attended the Year 13 Formal last Saturday at the Intercontinental Hotel. A special thanks to Sally Connell and her team of supporters who helped organise this wonderful event.
Congratulations to our Senior A Basketballers who finished second in the Premier Boys Division at the Nationals over the holidays.
REMINDER RE UNIFORM AND GROOMING: Students should be in correct uniform every day. Shirts should be tucked in and socks pulled up. If students are wearing sandals they should be black roman sandals and must have a back strap. All students should be clean shaven and hair must be tidy.
DATES TO DIARY
‘MATES AND DATES’ COURSE: All RE203 students will be taking part in the ACC promoted ‘Mates and Dates’ course in the next two weeks during their scheduled Religious Education classes. This course will be facilitated by the Sexual Abuse Prevention Network (SAPN) with their usual Religious Education teacher in the class also. Students will spend five sessions during this time learning about relationships, sexuality and gender identity and consent. This course was run successfully for the first time in 2017 and is very valuable.
CHANGES TO MORNING ROUTE 774 from HOUGHTON BAY TO KILBIRNIE: Metlink has advised the College that despite previous advice that from Term 4 the departure time for this route from Houghton Bay serving Island Bay, Owhiro Bay, Happy Valley, Berhampore & Newtown to Kilbirnie Schools would be changing to depart Houghton Bay 10 minutes earlier at 7.57am instead of 8.07am. Unfortunately the operator of this service has said that those changes will now not be able to occur, and that the current timetable will remain in effect for the time being. Metlink apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause, and will advise the College when they are able to introduce the anticipated improvement in services.
ADDITIONAL BUS TO THE STATION AFTER SCHOOL: Metlink have now provided a third bus to the station in the afternoon. It is timetabled to leave the College at 3.30pm.
USE OF MONTHLY BUS PASSES ON THE RAILWAY STATION BUSES: Metlink has informed the College that a number of students are using MonthlyPlus passes which are not valid for use on buses in zone 1-3. From next week the students using the MonthlyPlus pass will not be able to use them when catching the Railway Station bus. See below flyer from Metlink showing which tickets are not accepted.
Please pray for our Year 13 students who are nearing the end of their time at our College. We have our end of year – Year 13 Retreat on Wednesday afternoon, 31 October at The Pines, and our full school Leavers Mass at 10.30am on Friday 2 November in our Hall.
