Parent Weekly Update 2 August

Dear Parents and Caregivers

YEAR 9 ENROLMENT APPLICATIONS: Enrolments for 2020 close TODAY. Enrolment application forms are available on the College website or you can collect a Prospectus from the College office.  Please encourage families with Year 8 boys to enrol their sons with us for 2020.

TRACKING SHEETS: This week all seniors should have been given an up to date “Tracking Sheet” showing the NCEA credits they have gained so far this year.  This information is also available on the Parent Portal of KAMAR.  It is a good time for parents and students to discuss academic progress this year.

DATES TO DIARY:

  • Monday 5 August – Blood donor day in the College Hall.  Any student aged 16 and over and weighing over 50kg may give blood.
  • Thursday 8 August – Mother & Son Dinner at 7pm.

ERO REVIEW: We have had a very positive first week of our Review from the Education Review Office.

FOSPC (Friends of St Patrick’s College) We are looking forward to seeing you all at the SPC Mother and Son Dinner 2019, on Thursday 8 August, starting at 7pm, in the St Patricks College Hall.  We welcome Year 9 and Year 13 students and their mothers only, from 6.15pm onwards.

  • Guest speaker; Dave Greenberg from Westpac Rescue Helicopter
  • Please ensure you write your name on the back of your ticket, prior to arrival
  • Drinks will be available for purchase from the bar (eftpos/limited cash). No BYO
  • Multiple raffle and spot prizes to be won
  • On-site photographer – $10, $15 and $20 per photo. Group photos welcome
  • Photos and raffle tickets – cash only

2019 FOUNDATION DINNER: Our Annual SPC Foundation Fundraising dinner is on Saturday 24 August. Tickets are $80.  We are thrilled to have Sir Bryan Williams, one of New Zealand’s great All Blacks as our guest speaker.  This dinner is open to all our families.  There are still tickets available. Contact: email development@stpats.school.nz 

ST PATRICK’S COLLEGE SPORTS SALE: Donate now|Save the date: 10am-2pm, Saturday 17 August.  Now is the time to donate your pre-loved sports gear and clothing (all codes included) in good and clean condition.  Drop items in the clearly-marked tub in the college office between now and 16 August.  Smaller items e.g. boots, sports clothes, cricket bats and pads, hockey sticks, goggles, snorkels, balls, shin pads, kit bags etc., (anything smaller than a bike) can be dropped off.  For larger items email us at parentsassociation@stpats.school.nz to arrange a time and place for drop-off.  If you’re not sure whether or not your donation is appropriate for the sports sale, please email us to check.  Available to help for an hour or two on 17 August on the sales tables or the sausage sizzle?

ADVANCE NOTICE: Mass for the Feast of the Assumption.  On Thursday 15 August at 12.30pm we have Cardinal John Dew coming to say Mass for the Feast of the Assumption.  Parents and friends of the College are all invited to join us. 

ATTENDANCE DUES: All families need to be paying their Attendance Dues to the Archdiocese of Wellington.  You can pay attendance dues in the following ways:

  • Mastercard or Visa Debit/Credit Card – One off payments using your credit card can be made at www.wn.catholic.org.nz/attendance-dues. If you would like to set up monthly recurring payments from your card, please contact the Attendance Dues office.
  • Internet Banking Payments – You can process a one-off or regular payment yourself through internet banking. If you do not use internet banking please contact the AoW office for an automatic payment form to take to your bank.
  • Cash – You can pay in cash at any Westpac branch or in person at their office at 22 Hill St, Thorndon.
