Parent Weekly Update 25 May

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Mrs Sharron Kendall-Elder, our Teacher in Charge of English Language and teacher of Year 9 English has informed the staff today that she is seriously ill with an incurable cancer and will not be returning to her position at our College. She has asked that we keep her in our prayers.

  • Wednesday 30 May – Wellington College sports exchange at Wellington College for 1st XV Rugby, 1st XI Football, Senior A Basketball and the Golf team. All other students will remain at school and attend their normal classes.
  • Thursday 31 May – school finishes at 12.10pm.
  • Friday 1 June – school is closed for staff development day for all the teachers of the Wellington Loop schools.

The PPTA, the Secondary Teachers union will be holding a meeting for teachers on Thursday 31 May in the afternoon at Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua. School will finish at 12.10pm that day as we cannot provide classes for students in the afternoon. If you wish us to supervise your son until 3.20pm please email by Tuesday 29 May at 4pm. There will be no school buses available so students will need to make their own way home. A reminder also that the College will be closed on Friday 1 June for a Wellington wide IT professional development day for teachers and also on Monday 4 June (Queen’s Birthday Monday) and Tuesday 5 June for midterm break.

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME: Each year the College provides, for students who wish to, the opportunity to celebrate Catholic Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation. This Programme will begin shortly. If your son has not been baptised or baptised in another church this is an opportunity for him to be received into the Catholic Church. Similarly, if he is baptised and but has not made his First Communion or Confirmation, this is a good time to do so. It is his personal decision to receive the sacraments or not, in consultation with you, his parent or caregiver.

If you are interested, please contact Fr Pat, by email at or telephone 939 3070 extension 235. You may sign your son up at
