Parent Weekly Update 31 May

Dear Parents and Caregivers

LATEST NEWSLETTER: The latest College newsletter is now available on the College website or via this link:   I would strongly encourage you to read the newsletter which is in a new format. Please note especially in the newsletter my comments regarding student and parent behaviour at sport under the heading of “Living our Values” and some advice to parents about the second season of the Netflix series “13 Reasons Why”.

A significant number of students left school yesterday afternoon without permission and without signing out and went over to Wellington College. These students will be kept behind at school to today to make up time to 2.10pm.

  • Friday 1 June – the school is closed for staff development day for all the teachers of the Wellington Loop schools.
  • Monday 4 June – the College is closed for public holiday.
  • Tuesday 5 June – the College is closed for midterm break.
  • Friday 8 June – mufti day for St Vincent de Paul. Please donate either non-perishable food items which will be given to the Foodbank to distribute or cash.
  • Sunday 10 June – College Open Day at 1.30pm.

PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT INTERVIEWS: Parent-Teacher-Student interviews will be conducted on Wednesday 20 June from 2.30 to 4pm and then 4.15 to 6pm and Thursday 21 June from 4pm – 6pm and 6.50pm – 8pm. Please note you can book on either night. Parents can book from 9am next Friday morning (8 June). Interviews will be of 5 minutes duration. It is beneficial if students can attend as well.

For these interviews we are using an internet-based booking system called Parent Teacher On-Line (PTO). It will save time for parents, staff and students! Using this system you will be able to book the interview times that suit you best from any internet-connected computer. A computer will be available in the front office during school hours if you do not have internet access at home or elsewhere.

Please access the system as follows:

  • Go to the school’s home page
  • You will find a header Parent/Teacher Interviews – click on the link and it will take you to the PTO website
  • Click on “Obtain Pin/Password and you will then be asked to enter your email address that you have given the school. Login data will then be sent to you.
  • For those who have no email address you have been sent login details by mail. Enter your surname and PIN, provided on the letter sent to you.

Full instructions are provided to you after log in. Please note the following points:

  • When you log on, the system displays only your own child/children. Bookings are made for individual parents/guardians, not for couples. Couples can however log on to the system simultaneously to coordinate bookings. If two parents/guardians wish to attend a single interview timeslot, one parent/guardian should make the booking then both can attend.
  • You will only see time slots which are available at the time you are using the system. As time slots are booked for teachers, those timeslots are no longer displayed as available. PTO prevents double-booking of teachers or parents/guardians.
  • When you have made all the bookings you require, you can print a report of your bookings in time order. You can log in and change bookings any time up to 11am on the day of the interviews.
  • If you see this symbol  displayed alongside the class name, it means this teacher recommends that you book an interview.
  • Other parents may be making bookings at the same time that you are using the system. It is possible, though unlikely, that a timeslot is displayed to you as available, but is then booked by another parent shortly afterwards. If you then attempt to book this timeslot it will not be available and a message will be displayed to indicate this.
  •  If you encounter any problems using PTO please notify the school office, preferably via email at

I am sure the system will be of benefit to the students, parents and the staff. Any feedback from you will be most welcome.
