Parent Weekly Update; 8 February

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Thank you to all the Year 9 parents who came to meet their son’s Tutor Teacher on Monday evening.  We had a wonderful opening Mass this morning where we commissioned our student leaders and prayed for an excellent year for everyone.

NZ SCHOLARSHIP RESULTS: The College is thrilled with our 2018 NZQA Scholarship results and would like to congratulate all the winners.  The College received a total of 12 Scholarships.  Details will be in next week’s newsletter.

THE PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION BBB: The Parents’ Association would love to hear from anyone willing to help out at the St Patrick’s Day Big Boy’s Breakfast which takes place on the morning of Friday 15 March 2019. We will need people to help on the evening of Thursday 14 March and then from 6am on the Friday 15 March. We are grateful for any time you are able to give.  This is a great opportunity to make a contribution to a wonderful event for our boys and to be part of a fundraising activity.  Please email Deirdre Hanlon at to register your interest. We thank you in advance for your support.

  • Monday 11 February – Polynesian Parents’ Association meeting at 6pm in the staffroom. Talofa lava and greetings to you all, I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable break over the festive season. Well it is that time again where we prepare ourselves for another eventful year. We kick start our first meeting on Monday 11 February in the College staffroom at 6pm. I would like to also warmly invite all Year 9 parents to our first Polynesian Parents’ Association meeting to get a feel of what this ‘blessed and fruitful family’ is all about, and what we do to support our Polynesian students, and also the College as well.  Hope to see you all there and looking forward to our journey ahead for 2019. Fa’afetai lava and God bless – Pa’ala Lefao – Chairman Polynesian Parents Asosi.
  • Thursday 14 February – Old Boys’ Cup Athletics at Newtown Park.

OLD BOYS’ CUP (ST PAT’S TOWN V ST PAT’S SILVERSTREAM) ATHLETICS THURSDAY 14 FEBRUARY at NEWTOWN STADIUM: On Thursday students are to be at Newtown Park by 9am for a roll check.  A second roll check will be done at the end of the day.   Summer uniform must be worn.  Students who are not competing will be supporting our Athletes from the grandstand.  Remember to take some sunscreen.  If you take a hat it would be great if it could represent our school colours i.e. blue and/or white.  It would also be great if you left your schoolbag at home on this day.  There will be food available for purchase at Newtown Park.

At the end of the day’s programme students will be released from Newtown Park.  The day’s events should be finished by 2.30pm. Transport: Students will need to make their own way to and from Newtown Park in both the morning and afternoon.  The College has organised a bus from the College to take students to Newtown Park at 8.45am in the morning.  All other students using public transport will need to make their own way to and from Newtown Park.

JAPANESE STUDENTS VISIT FROM 8 – 20 March 2019: We have a group of students from Shibuya Makuhari in Japan arriving in Wellington on 8 March leaving 20 March. We need homestay accommodation for the 14 students for a period of 12 days.
