Parent Weekly Update 8 June

Dear Parents and Caregivers


  • Saturday 9 June – 1st XV traditional versus Rongotai 1st XV at Evans Bay Park at 2.30pm.
  • Sunday 10 June – College Open Day at 1.30pm. Thank you to the students who have volunteered to help.
  • Monday 11 June – Polynesian Parents’ Association meet in the staffroom at 6pm and the Parents’ Association meet in the staffroom at 7.30pm.
  • Tuesday 12 June – a reminder to Year 9 parents that we have our second Parents of Patricians evening with Wine & Cheese on from 7.30pm till 9pm in the College staffroom. We would like at least one parent of every Year 9 student to be present. Please make this meeting a priority. If you are unable to attend please email your apology to Gerardine Parkinson, the Rector’s PA –
  • Tuesday 12 June and Wednesday 13 June – Year 12’s on retreat at the Home of Compassion in Island Bay. The year group is split into 2 groups and will go on either day.

LOCKDOWN PRACTICE: On Wednesday 13 June there will be a “lockdown” exercise. Parents will receive a notification via email, text and website notice that the school is in lockdown. This is a practice exercise. There is no need for concern. (For further details see the website).

WHOLE SCHOOL PHOTO: Every 5 years we take a whole school photo. You may have seen the 2013 one in the Chanel corridor. Students often stop and look at it. Every student who spends 5 years at our College will be in a photo. We will be doing this on Wednesday 20 June. All students must be in formal uniform on that day.

PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT INTERVIEWS: Parent-Teacher-Student interviews will be conducted on Wednesday 20 June from 2.30 to 4pm and then 4.15 to 6pm and Thursday 21 June from 4pm – 6pm and 6.50pm – 8pm. Please note you can book on either night. Parents can book from 9am today – Friday morning 8 June. Interviews will be of 5 minutes duration. It is beneficial if students can attend as well. Please go to the school’s home page to book interview times. If you encounter any problems using PTO please notify the school office, preferably via email at   I am sure the system will be of benefit to the students, parents and the staff. AN INVITATION TO THE BIRTHDAY MASS FOR SUZANNE AUBERT – TUESDAY 19 JUNE AT 6pm. The Sisters of Compassion and the Catholic Parish of Wellington South invite staff, students and families to this year’s celebration at St Anne’s Church, Emmett St, Newtown. 2018 is the 183rd anniversary of the birth of Venerable Suzanne Aubert, founder of the Sisters of Compassion and a woman of great faith. Each year, people from across Wellington gather to celebrate her birthday at the commemorative Mass and to share hospitality afterwards. HOMESTAYS REQUIRED – 27 JULY to 15 AUGUST: We will shortly be hosting 20 students from various Catholic Colleges in Hong Kong. They will arrive here on Friday 27 July and leave on Wednesday 15 August. We have been asked to host these students in pairs. We also require homestays for five younger Year 9 and Year 10 students – 3 from Japan and 2 from China. One Japanese student will be with us from 20 July to 29 September the other from 23 July to 31 August. The two Chinese students will be here for two weeks at the start of the term. If you live within a bus ride to the College and you are interested in hosting students in your home, or you would like more information about hosting students please contact Maria Elenio by email on or by phone on 027 418 7500. The College will be paying the families for hosting each student.

2018 NCEA FEE: The 2018 NCEA fee of $76.70 has now been attached to all senior and some Year 10 student’s accounts, please be advised that payment must be made by the 31st August 2018. If you have a current Community Services Card, you can fill in a Financial Assistance form available from the cashier and the cost will be reduced to $20.00. ST PATRICK’S COLLEGE FOUNDATION DINNER – SATURDAY 30 JUNE AT 7PM. This is always a great night. Ticket sales are going well but we have room for another 40 people. Tickets are $80. Come and join our community on this special occasion. Email for tickets.
