Each of the three prizegivings will be live streamed. My Mills, the Deputy Rector will send out a Google Form for those that wish to view the live stream. A reminder that no parents, caregivers or whānau can attend the events or be on the College grounds. Thank you for your cooperation.

To our Year 13’s, the Class of 2021. Thank you for being great role models for our College community. You have endured a most challenging year. You could have given up and thought what is the point knowing that the key events in your final year have been taken away from you. You could have chosen to miss classes and socialise with your friends. You could have decided not to put time and energy into your studies or senior derived grade exams. Instead, you turned up to school, attended classes, you did your best in your derived grade exams, you were present around the school grounds so that your peers knew you were there, you continued to engage with your tutor teacher and subject teachers, you turned up to the Year 13 retreat and made it meaningful. More importantly, you kept the faith. Thank you for acting and being in the way of Mary. Thank you for your support and for being awesome kaitiaki, guardians of our College of which that mantle you now pass to our Year 12.

I want to acknowledge all Manu Taupua Matua, Joshua Perera and his deputies Fox Cobb, VJ Dahya and Henry McIntyre for your leadership and guidance throughout the year. To the House Captains Denzell Estor, Semisi Tautau, Yanula Thuiyadura and James Tuck for inspiring and working hard for your Houses. Finally, to all our Manu Taupua for stepping into the role as tuakana/older brother in developing and maintaining relationships with all your peers in your tutor group, your House and working alongside your tutor teacher. You have set a great example in the inaugural year of establishing Manu Taupua.

I wish all our senior students all the very best for their external exams. Thank you all for keeping the faith and doing the MAHI.

Congratulations to Ben Brown and Nathan Quito who were the successful candidates for this position. Both Ben and Nathan have agreed to share the role in 2022. I look forward to working alongside them at Board meetings.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the out-going student representative of the BoT, James Tuck. He has done an excellent job in representing the students and was an active participant in Board meetings throughout the year.

There will be a Life Skills Day for Year 12 and 13 students from St Pat’s, St Catherine’s and St Mary’s on Tuesday 14th December. This invitation has been extended to Year 12. A wide range of sessions are available including interview skills, financial awareness, adjusting to university, yoga, resilience, communication, flatting, drugs, health and relationships etc. For more information click on this link https://wellingtoncatholic.wixsite.com/schools/general-4 or email Mrs Figueira (helen.figueira@stpats.school.nz) Registrations close on Wednesday 10 November.

Thank you to all the students who are wearing their masks on school buses and/or public transport each day. Thank you for your consideration for one another and members of the public. It is mandatory for all students to wear a face covering on school buses. Face coverings are also kept in the College office if your son needs one.

Further to an earlier announcement, key Māori staff have met and we have unanimously agreed to cancel the Hui-ā-Whānau planned for Friday 12 November. We made this decision based primarily around consistency with other major prizegivings and gatherings being cancelled. We wish to be proactive in supporting the wellbeing of our whānau, and to be consistent with other events which have had to be cancelled.

If you have any immediate issues you would like to bring to our attention, feel free to email jarrad.porima@stpats.school.nz;  and our Board of Trustees’ whānau representative, Basil Keane, is more than happy to answer any questions you might have about our Whānau Rōpū; his email is basil.keane@stpats.school.nz. We thank you for your anticipated support in these challenging times.

Kia kaha, kia manawanui, kia ora,

Ngā mihi nā,

Jarrad Porima

The Second-Hand Uniform Shop is currently low on stock and is in need of donations of good, clean, resalable uniform items. Money raised through the sale of second-hand uniforms is donated back to St Patrick’s College by the Friends of St Patrick’s College (FOSPC).

FOSPC will consider buying your blazers (for $110) and newer style jackets (for $50) if they are in VERY good condition. The blazers MUST be dry-cleaned with the dry-cleaning ticket still attached. A separate Second-Hand Uniform Purchase Agreement will need to be completed for each blazer/jacket being offered for purchase. A link to this form can be found on the Second-Hand Uniform shop page on the school website or they can be collected from the College Secretary, Yvonne Small.
