Weekly College Update

Monday 23 March 2020 – 5.30pm

Tēnā koutou katoa

The New Zealand Government has this afternoon upgraded the country from Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 3 and is planning to elevate to Alert Level 4 in 48 hours time.

As a result, all schools have been instructed to close effective from this afternoon.

Please DO NOT send your boys to school from tomorrow morning. We understand that this situation will put stress and pressures on our families but these actions are necessary at the current time for the good of our entire country.

The one exception tomorrow is for parents/caregivers who are employed as essential services (eg. doctors, nurses etc.) who may have sons at our College. If those parents require their sons to be at school tomorrow we will arrange to cater for them. If your son could be at school at the usual time of 8.55am and meet by the assembly hall. Could you please email admin@stpats.school.nz if your son will be attending.

If boys have been away from school over the past days and need to come and collect books or other items, the teachers will be available in their classrooms tomorrow (Tuesday) between 10.00am and 12.00pm for that purpose. If you require a chromebook to borrow over the break please see Ms Parkinson at the front office.

The Ministry of Education has just released that the school holidays will start early, from 30 March to 14 April inclusive. Our staff therefore will not be preparing any school work for your
son until Wednesday 15 April.

During the holiday break, we will support our staff to develop
e-learning and other distance learning options. Term 2 is scheduled to commence on Wednesday 15 April.

We will continue to update you as the days progress. I ask that you all look after yourself and your loved ones.

Ngā mihi nui
