NCEA 2019 RESULTS:

NCEA Level 1 79.1% 68.6%
NCEA Level 2 90.4% 76.1%
NCEA Level 3 63.9% 65.5%
University Entrance 45.0% 46.8%

We have received the 2019 NCEA provisional results. The results overall are pleasing. However, I recognise that there is a lot of work that needs to be done to support our students at Level 3 and more importantly, those striving for University Entrance this year.

On a more positive note I am happy to announce that the College gained 14 NZ Scholarships last year. Congratulations to the eight Year 13 students who gained this awesome achievement.

YEAR 9 PARENTS MEET THE TUTOR TEACHER EVENING: Thank you to all our Year 9 parents who came along on Tuesday evening. It was a great opportunity for you all to meet your son’s tutor teacher. A reminder that your son’s tutor teacher should be the first point of contact in regards to matters of concern or to ask questions if requiring clarification on anything.

KŌRERO/CHAT WITH THE RECTOR: At assembly this week, I informed the students that starting next Wednesday 12 February at lunch time I will be available for students to come and speak to me and share their thoughts and ideas about the college. I will make this day and time available for all of Term One. If any student wishes to see me please make an appointment with my PA, Mrs Parkinson.

HOMESTAYS REQUIRED: The College has a group of 13 Japanese students from Shibuya Makuhari Group this year. They are arriving on 9 March and leaving 21 March. If you have a spare room in your home and live within a bus ride of the College would you consider hosting one of these students. They will be paying $720 for the 12-night stay. If you are interested or would like more information, please call Maria on 027 4187500 or email maria.elenio@stpat.school.nz.

DATES TO DIARY FOR NEXT WEEK: Monday 10 February to Wednesday 12 February – Year 9 Chanel Camp and then from Wednesday 12 February to Friday 13 FebruaryYear 9 Kennedy Camp.  The Polynesian Parents’ Association meeting which was to be held in the College staffroom at 6pm on Monday 10 February will now be held on Monday 17 February.  A full newsletter will be available on 14 February via the College website and College App, and there will also be hard copies available from the College office.

SAVE THE DATE – CAN YOU HELP?  TUESDAY 17 MARCH – ST PATRICK’S DAY CELEBRATIONS – BRIGHT BUILD BIG BOYS’ BREAKFAST: Tickets go on sale soon for our annual Big Boys’ Breakfast for boys and their father, grandfather, uncle, or other significant male. If you can help with raffle prizes or with set up on the afternoon of 16 March, or with serving on the morning of 17 March, please contact us at parentsassociation@stpats.school.nz

A CALL TO ALL SEWERS: The Second-hand Uniform Shop which is managed at the College by FOSP is seeking a volunteer in our school community who could offer mending services for occasional uniform repairs e.g. ripped seams? This would allow FOSP to sell items that have been donated and could be sold in the Second-hand Uniform Shop. If you are able to help please email fospc2018@gmail.com or text 021629081.

Nga mihi nui.
