Weekly Update 16 August

Thank you to the Friends of St Patrick’s College for organising a fantastic Mother and Son Dinner last Thursday evening.  It was another wonderful celebration of that special Mother/son relationship.

STAFFING CHANGE: Today we farewelled teacher, Mr Luc Townsend, who is leaving to take up a teaching position at Scots College.  We thank Mr Townsend for his service to the College and wish him all the best for the future.  We welcome Mr Kelsen Simonsen who will be taking over the pastoral care of Mr Townsend’s tutor group and teaching his classes.  Mr Simonsen can be contacted via email – kelsen.simonsen@stpats.school.nz


  • Monday 19 August – FOSPC meeting at 7.45pm in the staffroom.  
  • Friday 23 August – Scholarship exam (optional) for Year 9, 2020 students at 9am and newsletter available.  On Friday 23 August Massey and Victoria Universities, and other tertiary providers are all holding Open Days for Year 13 students.  Please note that there are no classes for Year 13 students that day so that they can attend.
  • Saturday 24 August: Our Annual SPC Foundation Fundraising dinner.  Tickets are $80.  We are thrilled to have Sir Bryan Williams, one of New Zealand’s great All Blacks as our guest speaker.  This dinner is open to all our families.  There are still tickets available. Attending this dinner is a great way to support the College.  Email: development@stpats.school.nz

RANONG FUNDRAISER: This Sunday 18 August the students travelling to volunteer at the Marist Mission in Ranong next January are holding a sausage sizzle fundraiser out at Mitre 10 Mega Porirua from 10am to 4pm.  They would welcome your support.

ST PATRICK’S COLLEGE SPORTS SALE: 10am-2pm, this Saturday 17 August.  Now is the time to donate your pre-loved sports gear and clothing (all codes included) in good and clean condition.  Drop items in the clearly-marked tub in the College office before the end of today.  Smaller items e.g. boots, sports clothes, cricket bats and pads, hockey sticks, goggles, snorkels, balls, shin pads, kit bags etc., (anything smaller than a bike) can be dropped off.  For larger items email us at parentsassociation@stpats.school.nz to arrange a time and place for drop-off.  If you’re not sure whether or not your donation is appropriate for the sports sale, please email us to check.  Available to help for an hour or two on 17 August on the sales tables or the sausage sizzle? Email us at parentsassociation@stpats.school.nz  Thank you for your support! The Sports Sale is a Parents’ Association fundraiser for St Patrick’s College.

ADVANCE NOTICE: The Friends of St Patrick’s College would like to invite members of our College community – students, staff and their families to attend our Family Mass on Sunday 15 September in the Chapel at 11am.  Students are not required to wear uniform.  Mass will be followed by a light luncheon afterwards in the College staffroom.
