Weekly Update 22 November

Dear Parents and Caregivers

At the end of this year 2 long serving teachers will be leaving the College. Mr Peter Wadsworth, our Guidance Counsellor is retiring after working at SPC for 38 years initially as a Technology teacher and then latterly as Guidance Counsellor. Ms Ainslie Sauvao, Science teacher and lead teacher of our Home School Partnership and Pasifika mentoring has worked at SPC for 25 years and is leaving to take up a teaching and pastoral care role at the new Whitby Collegiate. Both Mr Wadsworth and Ms Sauvao have made a significant contribution to the wider life of St Patrick’s College and will be deeply missed. Mr Wadsworth and Ms Sauvao go with our best wishes for the future.

DATES TO DIARY: Year 10 Chanel Camp from Monday 25 to Wednesday 27 November and Year 10 Kennedy Camp from Wednesday 27 to Friday 29 November. Wednesday 27 November: Board of Trustee meeting at 6pm in the Colin Boardroom. Parents are most welcome to attend.

YEAR 10 RETREATS: All St Patrick’s College boys spend at least some time on Retreat each year. This year our Year 10 students from Watters and Redwood will have their Retreat day on Wednesday 27 November. While it is a school day, the boys are permitted to wear mufti for the day. The Retreat lasts all day and is held on College property, in the chapel and in the MSP gym. It will be led by the Youth Team from Challenge 2000 with help from College teachers. The Retreat focuses on justice and peace, using reflections, games and other activities. The Retreats are school activities and rolls will be taken. The day finishes at 3.20pm. Lunch will be provided for the boys that day. They will need a drink and a snack for interval. Parents are asked not to schedule out of school commitments for their sons on these days.
