Dear Parents and Caregivers

JUNIOR PRIZE-GIVING: Year 9 and Year 10 parents are warmly invited to attend Junior Prize-giving which will be held in the College hall at 10am on Friday 6 December which is the final day of school for 2019. All Year 9 and Year 10 students are to wear formal uniform. Junior Prize-giving will conclude by 11.30am approximately and students will be released home. Students will need to organise their own transport home as no school buses will be available.

JUNIOR REPORTS: Will be posted home on Tuesday and they will also be available on the Parent Portal.


  • Tuesday 3 December – Neville Shield Athletics at Silverstream, and Gateway Parents Information evening at 4.30pm in the staffroom
  • Wednesday 4 December – Year 13 students need to come into the College hall at 1pm to sign out, and Rector’s Farewell Function at 5.30pm in the College hall
  • Thursday 5 December – parents are invited to the Junior Music Concert in the hall at 2pm.
  • Friday 6 December – Junior Prizegiving at 10am. Term 4 ends.

COLLEGE RECEPTIONIST / ADMINISTRATOR: The College is seeking a person for this role to commence in late January 2020 and more detailed information can be accessed on our College website here or email admin@stpats.school.nz for a copy of the job description.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS HOST FAMILIES REQUIRED FOR 2020: If you have a spare room and live within a bus ride of the College would you consider hosting an international student in 2020? We have 6 Japanese students studying at St Patrick’s College next year. Five students for Term 1 only, arriving on different dates, 10 January, 25 January and 27 January. One Japanese student will be here for 3 terms and one Vietnamese student will be studying with us for the whole year. The College is paying $300 per week for hosting the students. FAREWELL FUNCTION FOR THE RECTOR: The Board of Trustees would like to invite members of our College community to attend Mr Swindells’ farewell on Wednesday 4 December in the College hall at 5.30pm. All are welcome. If you are planning to attend could you please RSVP to admin@stpats.school.nz so that we have an idea of catering numbers.

PAYMENT OF FEES AND DONATIONS: We would really appreciate all families ensuring their fees and donations are paid before the end of the year. We are unable to offer all the extra opportunities we provide for your sons if fees and donations are not paid.

RETURN OF TEXTBOOKS OR LIBRARY BOOKS: Please be advised if your son has any subject text books or library books at home, he must return them to the school office, which will be open until Friday 13 December for any returns and fee payments. Any un-returned textbooks or library books will be charged to your account. No students will be able to be issued textbooks for the New Year until the old textbooks are returned or paid for.

SCHOOL LOCKERS: All students will need to empty out their school locker and to take their padlock home when school finishes for the year next Friday.

SECOND HAND UNIFORM SHOP: The Second-hand Uniform Shop is very short on stock, especially the larger sizes. We would be very grateful if you could donate any uniform items that you will no longer require especially if your son is finishing Year 13 or leaving College. Please consider donating any good quality blazers, jackets, PE tops / shorts, or trousers. Profits from the uniform shop go back to the school in the form of scholarships to students, grants to specific projects, support and hospitality at college functions, and uniforms for families in need. We will consider purchasing blazers ($110) and jackets ($50) if they are in very good condition and blazers must be dry-cleaned with the ticket still attached. Complete a Purchase Agreement form. We wish to advise that we are opening the SPC Second Hand Uniform shop, on the following dates: Monday 2 December, 1.30 – 2.30pm (please note the change of date from Friday 6 December) and Saturday 18 January 2020, 10 – 12noon. In 2020, we will be moving the SPC Second Hand Uniform shop opening time to a Monday, during term time. APPEAL FOR MEASLES EPIDEMIC IN SAMOA: Kaira Sheck, a former Head Prefect of St Catherine’s College is organising this appeal and is looking for donations of disposable nappies, medical face masks, disposable gloves, single bed sheets and bottles of hand sanitiser. These can be dropped off at our College office by late Wednesday afternoon, 4 December.
