Weekly Update 30 August

Dear Parents and Caregivers

As you now know, I informed our Board of Trustees this week that I will be resigning as Rector of the College at the end of this year. It has been a real privilege to lead the College for the last six years and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with our students, with you our parents, with staff, old boys and the wider community as we have tried to grow our boys into good young men and to give them opportunities to develop their talents. As you know I love the Marist spirituality of the College.

It has been a tough decision to leave but after over 21 years as a Principal I do want to look for new opportunities, and I do want to spend more time with my growing family.

I will leave the College in very good heart. We have just had an excellent ERO Review. We have a wonderful staff, a very capable group of people on our Boards, and in our stakeholder groups, and of course awesome students.

The Board are beginning the process of appointing a new Rector with a hope that an appointment will be made during Term 4 to start at the beginning of 2020. I would ask that you keep the College in your prayers in the coming months as a new Rector is appointed. I will of course do my best to ensure we finish this year well and that all is in place for the incoming Rector.

FOUNDTION DINNER: Thank you so much to those families who supported our annual Foundation Dinner. It was a really enjoyable evening with 250 people attending and Sir Bryan Williams was an outstanding guest speaker. Approximately $30,000 was raised for our St Patrick’s College Foundation.

  • Next week is Winter Tournament Week and we wish all our teams well at the various events around the country.
  • ADVANCE NOTICE: COURSE SELECTION EVENING – Tuesday 10 September from 5.30 to 7pm. This is an important information evening to help parents and students select appropriate courses for 2020. Please put this date in your diary.
  • The Friends of St Patrick’s College would like to invite members of our College community – students, staff and their families to attend our Family Mass on Sunday 15 September in the Chapel at 11am. Students are not required to wear uniform. Mass will be followed by a light luncheon afterwards in the College staffroom.

Between 6-7.30pm parents are invited to join us. You will receive a welcome drink and canapés. Parent tickets are $30. A photographer will be available during this time.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE ST PATRICK’S COLLEGE SPORTS SALE. Thank you to everyone who supported our first Sports Sale recently, through donations, helping on the day and by coming along. The sale was well received within and beyond the college community. Watch this space for further sales in the future!

THE SECOND HAND UNIFORM SHOP DESPERATELY NEEDS STOCK: currently there is very little stock of second hand uniform items to sell. If you have any second hand uniform items that you would like to donate e.g. blazers, College rain jackets, jerseys, shirts, shorts, or trousers then please drop them into the College office.
