Annual 'Town-Stream' Sports Exchange

The annual Town-Stream winter sports exchange proved to be one of the best in recent memory with exciting sports, big crowds and glorious weather.

Played across nine events in Kilbirnie, Stream took the overall honours 5-4, but Town had plenty to smile about by winning the "Big Three"

  • 1st XV Rugby (38-36),

  • Senior A Basketball (77-74) and

  • 1st XI Football (3-0)

The 1st XV clash was a thrilling affair, with the lead changing hands on several occasions before Raphael Mettrick scored a try between the posts on full-time to level the scores at 36-36 and then Gia Johnston kicked the conversion to spark wild celebrations on Evans Bay Park.

The Senior A basketball clash also went down to the wire, with Town clinging onto a narrow lead in the dying minutes.

Thank you to all the management teams, match officials and supporters for their contribution to a magnificent showpiece of secondary school sport and brotherhood between the two close schools.

A special mention to the Old Boys association, who made a generous contribution towards the food for the after-match.
