Appointment of New Assistant Rector

Following on from the recent resignation of Sarah Parkinson, the College is excited to announce the appointment of a new Assistant Rector for our kura. Our new Assistant Rector is Phillip Kauika.

Phillip’s iwi is Ngā Rauru and his hapū is Ngāti Pourua. He has been the Deputy Principal for Teaching and Learning at Wainuiomata High School and member of the senior leadership team for the last eight years. 

Phillip has led the overhaul of a traditional curriculum to an innovative, future focused curriculum, leading staff, students and community towards improved outcomes. He has capacity and experience providing advice and guidance on curriculum design.

He has presented at national conferences to school leaders on curriculum change management. He has hosted over 25 schools from across the motu providing insight into innovative curriculum in action, providing constructive guidance and advice on how to progress curriculum change within a school. He incorporates strategic thinking towards the vision and outcomes making sure to achieve the strategic direction the school is working towards. 

Phillip aims to excel in all areas of life through continual lifelong learning. Aroha and tiakitanga are important values to him and he embraces them into his personal and professional life. Having a strong hauora is an essential element for him as it enables him to keep the four walls stable and balanced. 

We welcome Phillip in his new role as Assistant Rector and look forward to welcoming him and his whānau to our community when he commences on Monday 1 May.
