National Selection for Abilio

Abilio Fernandes has been selected to play “Tenor Saxophone" in the National Youth Jazz Big Band 2026" which will perform at the 48th National Youth Jazz Competition held in Tauranga from 30 March to 2 April 2026.

35 schools from across New Zealand entered the competition auditions (24 girls & 68 boys) with 11 entries from the Wellington region. Only one entry from Wellington made the cut – SPC Year 12 student Abilio Fernandes.

Abilio also plays the Alto Saxophone with SPC Jazz Band comprising of Abilio - Alto Saxophone, Lorenzo Di Maio - Guitar, JC Historillo - Drums & Zach Breen - Bass, representing the college in the Jazz combo band competition category.
