SPC team wins the 2025 Strengthening Democracy Competition

Our student team consisted of Samuel Agate, Thomas Agate, Charles Burns, Sami Ghanem and Fergus Herbert.

The competition was open to all Secondary School students in the Wellington area and involved a series of workshops and lectures led by Peter Cullen and former Principals of New Zealand Secondary Schools to help promote the understanding of and participation in how our society is run and how we can make it more equal and effective. The main aim of their project was to design a project that will help new migrants to Aotearoa.

Click on the link here to read their highly impressive project which includes a voting simulator to help explain MMP to new migrants to Aotearoa New Zealand.

As a reward for all their hard work, the students spent a day at Parliament where they met members of the Labour, National and Green Parties, as well taking a tour of the Supreme Court.
