Students To Represent NZ On World Stage

It has been a truly historic week at St Patrick’s College, Wellington, as the school’s blue-and-white pride swelled to national proportions. Within seven days, two outstanding students have been selected for two New Zealand national teams.

First came Michael Cash (Year 13, pictured left). Known for his razor-sharp wit and unyielding logic, Michael received the ultimate selection for the prestigious New Zealand Schools Debating team. This year's event will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, between 14 July 2026 and 24 July 2026. 

While he was conquering arguments, Hugo Tuffrey (Year 12, pictured right) was busy conquering the pool. Hugo’s relentless grit and explosive power earned him a highly coveted spot on the Under-16 New Zealand Water Polo team. The team will compete at the 2026 World Aquatics Men’s U16 Championships, in Zagreb, Croatia, from 03 August until 9 August.

We congratulate both Michael and Hugo on their achievements and all those who have supported them on their journey so far.
